New tasting room for Geary’s

gearys D.L. Geary Brewing Co. started the madness, now they are catching up with the times. The first craft brewery to launch in Maine in 1986 finally opens a tasting room next Wed. Sept. 24.

Located at their Portland headquarters, 38 Evergreen Drive, Geary’s tasting room and retail store will have outdoor seating, taps flowing with limited releases like oatmeal stout and wee heavy Scottish ale and old faves like London porter. It’s also a chance to talk hops with the seasoned crew that put Maine on the beer map.

Crisp autumn ale and gluten-free beer keeps this craft king top of mind for beer geeks. Though newcomers like Portland’s Bissell Brothers may be more prolific on Instagram, Geary’s, like most Maine classics, never disappoints.

According to their Twitter feed their new tasting room has a nice alfresco patio for sipping. The Maine Brew Bus revs up for more stops here this fall.

Check out the brewery that started it all, meet D.L himself and … FREE BEER! Buses shuttle beer lovers from The Great Lost Bear every half hour from 4 to 7 p.m. next Wed. Free admission. Mega burritos from Rolling Fatties food truck and beer samples makes this a hump day to remember.
