David’s in Portland, SoPo to close (for a few days)

It’s all hands on deck when the Big City calls. Next week — Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday — David’s Restaurant, Opus 10 and David’s 388 will be shuttered as the eponymous Portland chef David Turin heads to the James Beard House to cook.

We told you about Turin’s “Maine marvels” menu that he’s whipping up with his protege Bo Byrne at the NYC gastro castle Oct. 21.

In the comings and goings of the Southern Maine food scene, don’t think Turin is taking time off. This chef, like this city’s dining scene, doesn’t sleep. His sleek Kennebunkport hot spot David’s KPT will remain as open as ever. Oysters with a view anyone?

Fans of Turin and great cooking in general can tune into the Beard kitchen cam here next Tuesday at 6 p.m.
