Urban Sugar Mobile Cafe announced some big news this week. First a name change to Urban Sugar Donuts. Then a venue change from a truck parked at Sugarloaf Mountain to a permanent retail location at the base lodge.

Skiers should look for these mini morsels of love to exit the oven by Christmas.

“Making speciality donuts out of the truck comes with limitations,” said owner Kevin Sandes, who launches a Kickstarter campaign today to help with logistics. “Having more space means we can have extra staff and a larger menu.”

Mini-cake donuts in decadent flavors such as chicken and waffles drizzled with honey sriracha and maple glazed bourbon cream topped with candied bacon, will be cranked out faster and in great quantity in the new space, formerly Bob’s Clam Hut.

The truck , a tricked out 1970’s Grumman that roams Portland in the warm season, is not down for the count. Though “Miss Rosie” took a hiatus last summer she is getting spruced up to fill the streets with comforting dollops again next spring.

Sandes, who is now the sole owner, wants to develop full-size yeast donuts too.

Urban Sugar remain committed to Tandem Coffee Roasters, so make sure you shush in this winter.Sugarloaf hours are Wed through Sunday from 8 a..m. to 5 p.m.

Another plus, you’ll have heat as you inhale your box of 6, 12 or 24. Go ahead, you can snowboard it off.
